After a terrible night of sleep (see: all five of us in a single hotel room) but a fairly hearty hotel buffet breakfast, we headed off in the direction of Húsavík, which is known as a prime whale watching spot in northern Iceland.
We moved around A LOT during our week in Iceland. Like, a new place every night A LOT. But we did make it back to some of our very favorite places from our 2018 visit—and some things were just as magical as they were the first time, while others weren’t quite what we remembered.
I am so, so far behind on posting—we’re now in Ireland, our fourth country on this trip—but I don’t want to miss noting some of our favorite (and not-so favorite) moments in Iceland.
Like many folks, one of the things I love most about traveling is trying new foods—usually delightfully delicious ones, but also some more peculiar bites. I was disappointed last year when we went to Iceland and never found hákarl (fermented shark meat), a traditional Icelandic dish, on offer.
